Install
Install lnk, then pick the parts of Local Link you want. lnk is one
small command with a plugin for each part, so you install only what you
use.
curl -fsSL https://local.link/install.sh | sh
lnk up # pick your plugins
lnk upgrade # later: update everythingWhat you need
You need macOS on Apple Silicon or Intel, or Linux on x86_64 or arm64, and OpenSSH 8.1 or newer, which macOS and most Linux have already. It's free, and installing needs no account.
Install
The installer puts lnk in ~/.lnk/bin after checking the release's
signature with ssh-keygen. It leaves your shell's settings alone and
prints the line to add if that folder isn't on your PATH. To choose
another folder or a version:
curl -fsSL https://local.link/install.sh | LNK_INSTALL_DIR=/usr/local/bin LNK_VERSION=0.14.0 shConfiguration lists every
variable, and Install lnk covers
installing from source, or switching between a release and a source
build.
Pick your plugins
lnk up asks which of Local Link's parts you want, each a choice of
the plugins it needs, or takes them as its words.
lnk up # asks: answer with names or numbers, or enter for all
lnk up agents models # skip the question
lnk plugin add slack # a plugin by name, or one from outside Link by its URL| Choice | What it's for |
|---|---|
| agents | Your own AI, running here in a sandbox |
| models | The models on this computer, as an API |
| tunnels | A public URL for what runs here |
| buckets | Your files, backed up to your clouds |
| boxes | Machines in your own AWS or Google Cloud account |
lnk up takes choices only; a plugin's name, or a plugin from outside
Link, is lnk plugin add's. Only lnk up asks when you name none.
Run it again any time to add more. If you run a command whose plugin isn't
installed, lnk offers to install it. Plugins lists which
plugins each choice installs, and how to add, update and remove them.
A Local Link account
Tunnels, boxes and share links need a Local Link account, which you
sign in to with GitHub or Google, and lnk auth login. It's free while
Local Link is in beta. Agents, models and
buckets run on your computer and your clouds, without Local Link's
servers.
