Harness the best agents in open source

A harness is the program that runs your agent: it talks to the model, keeps the conversation and calls tools. Pick one of four open-source harnesses, and Link installs it, keeps it in a sandbox and up to date, and lets you switch any time.

lnk agent harness list # the harnesses, and which one runs your agent
lnk agent use --harness openclaw # switch to OpenClaw, installing it the first time
lnk agent create work --harness hermes # another agent, on Hermes Agent

Switch Harnesses says what comes along when you switch.

Compare them

Compare Harnesses sets the four side by side, and says which to pick for what.

Link treats every harness the same way, so switching doesn't change how your agent is looked after.

  • Link installs the release it pins, checked before it runs, in a home of its own at ~/Link/Agents/<agent>/Harnesses/<name>. lnk upgrade updates it with Link.
  • It sets the harness up with your model, your files folder, your connections and your tools, written into the harness's own settings.
  • It sandboxes the harness. The harness writes only its own folders and reaches the internet only through Link's filtering proxy, and it asks you before it gets anything more (Allow what a harness needs).
  • It keeps your model key out of the harness. Link's proxy, outside the sandbox, adds the key on the way to the provider (Keep the model key out).
  • It connects your phone with lnk agent connect telegram, and only you can talk to the agent (Text it from your phone).
  • It gives the agent Link Memory, which searches its files and conversations whichever harness runs it.
  • It moves the agent and backs it up. lnk agent move and lnk agent backup carry what the harness knows, whichever it is (Move it to a box).
  • It checks the harness. lnk agent harness check tries, from inside the sandbox, what the harness shouldn't be able to do.

What they need

You need the agents plugins, which lnk up agents adds. Every harness here comes with Link and is free. The model is yours to pick, and a hosted one bills you (Models).

Use another harness

A harness from outside Link comes as a plugin with an adapter that answers the harness contract. Add it once, then switch to it by its name: Switch Harnesses.

Why it works this way

Agents Decisions says why Link runs every harness this way, and Decisions why a harness meets Link through its contract.
